These were planted a couple weeks ago. We went to Horton's on Wes' co-worker's recommendation. Trying to spice up the dirt with some plants. The above is Stonecrop.
Love these little guys: Saxifrage
Sage - which is growing back after we cut it waaaaaay back. It was gross and leggy before.
Purple Form (above)
This is a Kleims Hardy Gardenia.
These are a kind of Iris, kindly donated by Skottie.
Skottie also gave us this ground cover, a kind of Sedum I believe.
Drawf Stone crop
Cornus Canadensis
Wes placed these stepped stones, so now you don't have to walk through dirt or a neighbor's yard to get to the pathway on the South side of the house! You can see how it connects to the front walkway a few photos down.
I love the little stone wall Wes put in between the new plants and the maple, helps break up the narrow strip of dirt.
Hoping to put in another little stone wall here, to separate the space and make way for a more substantial path...someday. :)
Here's the back yard now, Spring '09. distracting shadow is hiding two tomato plants, a thriving lilac with pretty purple blossoms, and the raised garden box with newly planted dahlia bulbs.
Here's the lovely entrance to the back yard from the South side. The previous gate consisted of a salvaged door that had broken and been removed.
This one shows the lilac tree from Julie, freshly planted.
